Wi-Fi 7 on Spectrum
Spectrum's own gear isn't Wi-Fi 7 yet, so the fastest route to Wi-Fi 7 on Spectrum is your own router behind their modem. You also stop paying the monthly Advanced WiFi fee.

Using your own router
Spectrum lets you use your own router. Keep their modem, disable its Wi-Fi (or ask for a modem-only unit), and plug a Wi-Fi 7 router into it.
Step by step
- Confirm your plan speed in the Spectrum app — there's little point in Wi-Fi 7 below a gigabit.
- Ask Spectrum for a modem-only device, or turn off Wi-Fi on the Advanced WiFi router.
- Connect a Wi-Fi 7 router to the modem's Ethernet port and set up a new network name.
